Healthcare

Health care is a human right. I support Medicare for All and the abolition of all medical debt. People are dying every single day because of our politicians’ deference to profit instead of people. Even those of us lucky enough to have health insurance often can’t afford to use it. I will vote to dismantle this awful system and replace it with completely free, universal health care.

Work & Labor

Workers are the backbone of this country, yet we’re barely paid enough to survive. We deserve our fair share, which is why I will vote to raise the minimum wage to $20 per hour, as well as support worker-ownership of businesses and strong unions. We need a voice and a vote in our economic lives, not just our political lives. This authoritarian system of wealth and property controlled by the 1% must end.

Housing & Education

Housing and education decimate our finances. The rent keeps rising and our student loans persist. I believe in free college for all, and I will vote to cancel all student debt. Housing is also a human right, and I believe that democratically controlled, public housing is a priority for our country. We must build homes for all. We owe it to ourselves to guarantee the dignity of a home and an education to everyone.

The Security State

Colorado cages more people than some of the most incarcerated countries on the planet. Half of all people in prison are incarcerated for drug crimes. I will vote to end the War on Drugs and release all people unjustly incarcerated. I will vote for a streamlined immigration process, including amnesty for all undocumented people. And I will vote to shutter our fascist anti-immigration agencies.

Climate Change

Our current crop of politicians seem to think there’s a compromise to be made between the apocalypse and wealthy business interests. After a lifetime of politicians refusing to address climate change with any seriousness, I am disgusted and ready to take decisive action to stop the destruction once and for all. I support the Green New Deal to address the biggest crisis humanity has ever faced.

War

Over half of the federal budget is used for destruction. War, and the endless “readiness” for war, deprives us of the resources our communities desperately need and keeps us in a state of national precarity. Our lives and our future will never improve while the powerful promote an ideology of accelerating violence. I will never vote for war, and I will vote to end the wars we are fighting.

>

Income Inequality

Income inequality is at historic levels. The 1% hoard our resources and we scrape by with whatever little they’ll pay us. They decide everything from which politicians “deserve” to be elected to how much of a raise we get. I will vote to tax the rich, open a public bank, and pull no punches in calling out other elected officials who legislate only on behalf of big business.

>

Campaign Finance

Our government is bought and sold by the rich; more money gets you more access to the political elite. Our democracy cannot thrive until money is no longer speech, and I support a Constitutional amendment that says so. I will fight for publicly financed campaigns so that winning elections is no longer a game of fundraising. Elections are about values and policy, and anyone should be able to run.
